Head of Department for Accounting, Finance, Logistics & Economics
Welcome to the Department of Accounting, Finance, Logistics and Economics
Our department offers courses that support our students to not only learn the techniques involved in accounting, finance and economics, but also to experience personal and professional development, enabling our graduates to be employed in a wide range of careers spanning the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Programmes are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, supported by an excellent team of staff who work closely with our students; providing a dynamic learning environment and a great student experience.
We can offer you a broad range of accountancy, finance and economics study areas such as financial reporting, management accounting, accounting information systems, audit, tax, quantitative analysis, corporate finance, international finance, econometrics, corporate social responsibility, Islamic finance, financial services and banking. Our finance and economics students will benefit from a fully equipped stock exchange-style trading room which complements other computer facilities in our thriving Business School.
We firmly believe in business and education working together to help prepare our students for their future careers. Our students are taught by professionals from accountancy practice and other businesses in the region, to allow them to develop a number of technical and professional skills. In their first year of study, our accountancy and finance undergraduate students get an opportunity to work closely with staff from pwc, a big international firm of chartered accountants. This allows them to gain an insight into how accountants work in diverse organisations and how it is not always 'just about the numbers'!
